Deus Ex: Human Revolution – perfect blend of action and role play...
Deus Ex: Human Revolution is one of the best games to come out this year, plain and simple. The storyline is absolutely amazing and engaging. The cutscenes are of highest quality, the soundtrack is outrageous and the gameplay is addicting. The only minor downside is the graphical presentation and character modeling – something that a pickier gamer could gripe about.
Story
Deus Ex HR has one of the most engaging storylines I have experienced. From start to finish, you would want to find out more and more about the world, the characters and the overall scheme of conspiracies and political turmoil. The game takes place in future Detroit, where the current political separation of pro-humane and pro-augmentation sides are clutched in battle for supremacy. Your character is Adam Jensen, a security chief at a global augmentation technology innovator, who, without self-consent or choice, is augmented after an "accident". The storyline takes about 20-25 hours to complete, but this includes completing all side quests as well. 9/10
Graphics
The storyline cutscenes are absolutely stunning. The game scenery and stages are beautifully crafted and the color palette adds to the overall steam-punk feeling – dark, unforgiving world, where technology is at its peak. One downside to Deus Ex's graphics is the character models, especially NPCs and henchmen. You would feel that, compared to the rest of the graphical presentation, character models should have been rendered a little better. 9/10
Sound and Voice Acting
Deus Ex's soundtrack is great and very appropriate with the tone and style of game that it intends to be. The voice acting is decent and on par with the better game titles out there. 9/10
Gameplay
Human Revolution blends an action FPS game with plethora of RPG elements. The gameplay is solid and very diverse. You can approach this game with several different styles, with stealth and head-on FPS action as the most used ones. The inventory system is similar to a normal RPG with its limits and the ability to expand them through upgrades. Weapons and equipment is also very important in the game and there is a huge arsenal of different weapons and weapon mods. These items can be upgraded, as well as character upgrades which best suit your game style. The character upgrades are done in the form of augments which you can purchase via Praxis Kits – similarly to experience points in regular RPGs. 10/10
Overall
Deus Ex: Human Revolution is one of the best games that have come out this year. The perfect blend of action and RPG, as well as the intriguing story make this a worthy deal, both in good and quality content. Highly Recommended! 9/10
