Excellent Prequel, Almost Perfect But Not Quite

User Rating: 9.5 | Deus Ex: Human Revolution PC
Excellent game for an adult gamer interested in immersion in the game world. Not just a run-and-gun, it makes you think about what you are doing and success is not guaranteed the first time but that adds to the challenge. Gameplay and graphics are outstanding. Enjoyed the many ways to accomplish things and the diversity of augmentations. I spent over 60 hours exploring everything I could and doing every sidequest I could find, so it was excellent value as a game ... not to mention that I'm certain to replay it. To criticize it, I'd say that the character interaction was enjoyable but I never quite "got it" as some characters would cooperate and others never would, and I never quite understood why. I got stuck for days trying to sneak through the Detroit Police Station because I couldn't talk the NPC into letting me in, but so what, that just added to the challenge. Also, the story was a little weak compared to the original (what isn't?), failed to explain things like why Adam received unnecessary augs, and the ending seemed rushed and kind of a letdown -- but really all these are just nitpicks. Yes, the boss fights are kind of silly and unnecessary, but they didn't detract from my gaming experience. Wish they'd remake DXIW and fix its flaws.
