After playing the first Devil May Cry I was all but too eager to play the sequel of such an innovative action-packed game. To this day, many successful action adventure games have built on the Devil May Cry platform/recipe. But to my dismay Devil May Cry 2 was a complete and utter disappointment. It lacked the originality of its predecessor, had a dull story line, and was nothing short of just plain boring. In one level you are required to shoot at a possessed tank (poorly contrived foe btw) for what seems like hours. You just sit there shooting over and over as the AI, being the retard that it is, simply spins in circles trying to find out where its getting hit from. Some of the new moves were cool but overall the game was just poorly done. The flashy moves only get you so far before you realize that this game is going to be the same BS over and over. In addition, it was exceptionally easy. In one of the boss fight you can simply sit in a corner, out of the boss's reach, and pop him with your hand guns. He never even gets a hit on you. For some this may be fun but I like a challenge. In short, this game was nothing like its predecessor with exception to the title and main character. Other than that, it was the complete opposite of what the original Devil May Cry accomplished and as such should only be rented if you just have to see Dante kick some demon ass.
Well, due to popular demand--(kage), I've decided to get off my ass, grab a can of Mountain Dew, sit back on my ass and review the hell out of this game. Ahem. Warning: The following review contains DMC2 storyline... Read Full Review
