*****Review*****

Devil May Cry 2 is a disappointing sequel to one of the coolest games to even come to the PlayStation 2.

Devil May Cry had a great story and you would expect Devil May Cry 2 to have rather the same interesting plotline as the first, but the plot itself is rather weak. You play Dante (As you may know), but you also have the opportunity to play another character. (Why would we want to do that?)

Devil May Cry 2 is an action game where the player guides either Dante or Lucia (the protagonists) through an urban environment, fighting groups of demons in fast-paced combat. Taking place after the conclusion of the first Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 2 begins with Dante being invited to Dumary island (known as Vie De Marli to the local people) by the mysterious Lucia and her mother, Matier who once protected the island from demons alongside Dante's father Sparda. Matier had enlisted Dante's help to prevent the Arcana, a set of magical artefacts, from falling into the hand of Arius, the game antagonist.

Arius was the president of an international corporation and desired to have supreme power, in his own word, he wanted to "transcend all living things". To accomplish this, he sought to obtain the Arcana and perform the ritual that would grant him the power of the evil god, Argosax the Chaos.

As you play through the game, the plot get more uninteresting and disappointing comparing it to the first Devil May Cry

Ok the graphics are quite good in Devil May Cry 2 but nothing really special. Most of the background graphics and objects look rather plane and dull. The character modelling is quite good to, but again nothing special. Nothing like the first Devil May Cry.

Even thought the gameplay is quite similar to the gameplay in Devil May Cry, the game is very easy to play. You could go through the whole game just using your twin guns without any problems. Even on hard mode. I found the boss battles rather weak and pathetic. For almost ever boss you fight, you could probably find I weak stop where you could just stand in one stop and just shoot like hell. But even doing that, I find the gameplay rather boring. Nothing as exciting as the first Devil May Cry. There are new stylish moves Dante can do, like run up walls matrix style, but it wasn't enough for me to enjoy the gameplay.

The sound effect are not to bad, just basic, nothing much. The music soundtrack is nothing like Devil May Cry. The music soundtrack in Devil May Cry 2 is kind of dull. The voice acting is weak. I wasn't too happy with Dante's voice, and the voice acting never really gave the game any tone or made the game feel good.

Devil May Cry 2 is short. I finished the game on hard mode in about 2 hours (No kidding) and my exact words when I finished the game where "WAS THAT IT?"

Total let down. I gave the game a go for a second try with Lucia, but the game was too much of a let down, and just plain boring, which is a real shame, because I LOVED the first.

Overall I thought Devil May Cry 2 was an OK game in terms of being a game, but as it being a Devil May Cry sequel, it's very disappointing and quite disgusting to look at and play. I'll probably never play this game again in my life, but I do own it for the series collection.
