Don't believe the hype, archaic game controls damage a fun game.

As a Zelda gamer, I'm pretty used to the standard layout of constant camera control, mini-maps and compasses on the page. Something that has gotten so standard that even if the camera control is off in Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 for example, the mini-map feature is still there to tell you where you need to go.

Devil May Cry 3, despite being made in 2005, lacks these most BASIC of functions. Thus, what should be an fun adventure/hack and slash turns into tedium since you have to keep backtracking again...and again...and again. So its very, very easy to get confused. Much less be motivated to play the game despite its fun, excellent combat system and characters. The best way they could have improved this from the past games are those two crucial controls. yet they don't, they continue with the same exact type of play and think 'oh adding a cool cutscene' makes things better. And not only that, the save system sucks-when you save, you're supposed to appear RIGHT AT THE POINT YOU SAVE AT. But no, in DMC3? You start way back at the beginning of the level. Overall, while fun to a point, don't believe the hype.
