After a so-so sequel, Dante (and Vergil) return in the third installment of Devil May Cry.

User Rating: 8.4 | Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition PS2
Although I'm reviewing the Special Edition (haven't played the original release) I'll be basing my opinions on this specific version.

So, after the mediocre-ness that was DMC2, Dante is back in DMC3, and younger. Dante's Awaking takes place before DMC1 and tells a story about Dante, his brother Vergil, and a mysterious human father and daughter. I won't spoil anything, but the story is fairly decent, a lot better than the second one at least.

Gameplay: Combat has been totally perfected. There are tons of different styles, combos, items and equipment to buy and upgrade. The camera still gives a little bit of trouble, but nothing to annoying. The game is fairly lengthy, plus you get the extra unlockable character and several difficulties which is expected.

Sound: The music fits well with the game and series in general. Sound effects are spot on as usual and the voice acting I also thought was well done.

Extras/Unlockables: Two playable characters, five difficulty levels, twenty missions plus 12 secret missions equals a hell of a package. Capcom does another great job giving us a great amount of content.

I haven't mentioned difficulty yet, but don't worry it's there, oh is it ever. I only finished the game on normal, and all the trouble it gave me is giving me a headache even thinking about the higher ones.

So, if you like hard action games, pick this up, it's well worth the purchase price. Fans of the series rejoice! Dante has awakened!!
