For those who haven't played Devil May Cry 3, you should start now.
New to DMC 3 is the inclusion of Gold orbs. In other words, you can start at the same place you died, definitely toning down the difficulty of the original. Also new to the game is now, you can play as Dante's brother, Vergil. Vergil definitely plays differently from Dante, and you will notice it once you first play as him. However, in order to play as him, you must beat the game as Dante first. Bummer. There is also a Dante Must Die mode, which is the highest difficulty in the game. If you though the original DMC: DA was hard, wait until you try out this mode. There is also Bloody Palace, which has a total of 9999 levels. Yep, 4 digits. That will surely please the fanboy in all of us. If you have read the original DMC: DA review, there is nothing new other than the above. However, you can now fight Jester. That's right, you can now kick the creepy guy's ass. Awesome. The fighting system translates from the original to the SE, and it's still awesome. The developer took a lot of time crafting the original DMC: DA, but in 2006, even PS2 titles are looking good, and SE shows its age. The game is still awesome and it will suck you in as soon as you start playing it.
Overall, this game is not a must have. If you have Dante's Awakening, there is no reason to get this game again. However, if you haven't played it yet, or you just want to add this to your collection, SE is a worthy investment, and at $20, you can't say no to that.
