Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening is truly the best game in this series of action packed gaming adventure. oh, yeah!

User Rating: 9 | Devil May Cry 3 PS2
You gotta admit it to Capcom, after the harsh reviews Devil May Cry 2 got something had to be done to fix the situation and so did Capcom. In fact, This game is so got you'll forget all about the previous one. This is how a great game should survive, and that's why we should all give a big hand to Capcom for making it happen.

In DMC3 you take control the younger version of Dante, the son of Sparda, and this time you'll be facing Dante's twin brother: Vergil, who is determind on getting the power of Sparda, but he's not alone, there's another villain who's got his eyes set on that same power, his name is Arkham and he is obviously assisting Vergil in the process of achieving their goal.

The graphics are as you'd expect: Pretty sharp and clear with some really nice animation and special effects, so the characters all look nice and sharp, and the developers made sure that the graphics serve the purpose of reflecting the style of the game which is another point that should be stressed.
Dante is younger in this game and so he's really more arrogant and careless, but not totally though, he's got some skills as you might expect that made him so confident, and his fighting style and moves all got a certain spunk to it: you'll see him riding on fallen foes, using them as skate boards, and shooting at enemies as he's flying in the air, and shouting stuff like: yippee! And : Yahooooohhhh! It's crazy.
So the main new game play feature in here is the ability to choose from four different fighting styles: Trickster, Royal guard, Sword master, and Gun slinger, Trickster is the style that you start the game with and it focuses on evasive moves, Toyal guard is a defensive style that will have you blocking your enemies attacks, sword master and gun slinger are both self explanatory: the first is a style that focuses on melee weapons usage, and the other is a fire arms style which sees you shooting and blasting your enemies with style of course and all of that will take place as you listen to nice music that fit the action perfectly, and even the sound effects are nice and in place, even the voice acting is a little better than before, all of these elements mix together to give you the best style filled action you'll get in a game made so far.
But that's not all, you'll be exploring an entire tower raised from the ground by Arkham, and in one level you'll be swallowed by a giant flying fish!
There are some puzzles to solve every now and then but nothing really hard so you'll be jumped back to the action sooner than you think. The devil change ability is here as well but this time you'll be transformed into a demon for only a very short time..Of course there are the usual experience orbs which are the red orbs that –if gathered enough- will level up your abilities, power up your weapons, and enable you to trade them for items and upgrades.
Another thing should be mentioned about the different fighting styles which is the fact that you'll level up as you fight more and more enemies. There's also the style meter which is a meter that fills as you use different combos and switch weapons mid battle. And as this meter fills another one with a higher rank will appear and so on …
This will enable you to unlock certain rewards at the end of the game, and there's a lot of things to unlock, outfits, abilities, artwork and secret videos.

The extras aren't really that satisfying, but the main feature in here is the fact that you can play as Dante's twin brother: Vergil, who has an all new set of abilities, weapons, and fighting styles. But apart from a few new cut scenes, you'll play only the same game and levels as you did with Dante, so yeah sadly you can't play new levels, at least they could've let us play as Lady but oh well, I guess you can't have it all now can you?
A lot of game developers should take lessons from Capcom, this is how you can make a game live on instead of die as a bad unoriginal sequel, and with the new additions, this game is not bad at all, if you already have DMC3 then there isn't much worthy extras in here but if you don't have it then get this right now to get the whole package. But you can be certain about one thing: this is the best Devil May Cry game made so far, make no mistake about it.
