A great action/adventure game with nice features and extras.

Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition is a nicely put together action game for the PS2. Though very similar to the original game, this one includes a few nice extras like the ability to play as Vergil; the Blood Palace, which is a challenge to see how long you can last against increasingly tougher enemies; and some new costumes and fighting styles for Dante to play around with. After the less than spectacular DMC2, this game serves as a complete turn-around for the series and puts back all the elements that made the first installment the classic that it is. Instead of the "strong-silent type" character forced on Dante in DMC2, he is back to the old and very much liked loud mouth who taunts enemies who are three times his size and lets foes drive blades through him, just to spite and anhiliate them. Certain styles are offered to you and you can choose which one suits you best. If you are a full-on attacker, you would be best suited with the Swordmaster style; for a conservative defender, the Royal Guard style will do very nicely; and the game lets you unlock a couple of other styles as the story progresses. The game has also reset the default difficulty and made the game much easier for beginners. Those, and more, are some of the things found in the revamped version of DMC3. This is a truly great game, one that should be owned by fans of the first and of the second.
