User Rating: 8.5 | Devil May Cry 4 PS3
To anyone who hasn't played a Devil may cry game yet I strongly recommend picking this one up, I found that Nero's story was the easier of the 2 for example when it came to combat his Demonic claw made it easier to get a combo going and string combos together. The controls are quite quick to pick up with it being a hack and slash kind of game anyone can have fun going into a room and being ambushed while bashing the controller like an excited Primate. As for the story I found that it wasn't quite as exciting as I hoped it to be, what kept me playing was the action up until it came to Dante's side of the story. I found that Dante's game play required less button bashing than that of Nero's. Such as if your being ambushed by a group of foes and you mash together an assortment of buttons you're going to find yourself dead quite quick. Each of the bosses are quite amusing especially with each of them having a special critical blow when in devil trigger. But you will soon find yourself playing levels over and over just to fight your favourite boss which I found myself doing quite a lot. Now there are a few issues with this game such as some enemies are a bit over powered and by some I am especially referring to the lightning beast which you will know when you encounter, a word of advice if its glowing red it's safe to attack but if its glowing yellow keep back and shoot like mad. Also the challenges when it comes to Dante's levels can get irritating such as "there was a chemical spill so you health will slowly decrease" or "the tower will explode escape in 2 minutes", for these reasons I found myself playing more as Nero than Dante. But in the end there's a lot of play time before this game will get boring and if you're looking for a good combo shooter slasher game this is one of the best.
