Everything in this game looks so amazing. Delivering a healthy serving of fast paced action around every corner.
Which brings me to the atmosphere of the game. The castle scene will instantly remind you of Castlevania, but in Devil May Cry it's a bit more dark and dreary looking; almost like more horror/acrade action type feel. The devilish monster demon feel that the enemies have also secure the Castlevania resemblance, while still creating an original experience that strays into an original realm of it's own. Also whit in the castle atmosphere lies many opportunities for secrets to work there way in, because everything in the game looks so blended in, you would never think of trying to move certain objects to open specific secret passages and doors.
The presentation of Devil May Cry draws in a pretty outstanding showing that overall enhances every step you take through the game. The animations are extremely detailed, with Dente's every move you'll be amazed with the flow and finesse Dente dispenses while kicking, punching, slashing, flying, and shooting enemies to an oblivion. The textures and graphics are specifically stunning, as you explore the castle's dark secrets you'll rarely ever find graphics reused over and over again; always maintaining a fluid and original style that doesn't feel rushed just for time's sake. As like every other aspect of the game, the slow, dark, and dreary music provides even more to the dark atmosphere. The sound effects of Dante's various swords and guns are sharp and crisp, making every blast and slash feel that much more powerful. All the enemies and bosses contribute to the sound with their own demon screeches and screams of pain during their frequent whoopings; even when they're not being beaten, they all have their own snarls and freaky monster sounds that let you know their coming for you.
The only real beef I have with Devil May Cry is the game's short length; which is around the same length of your typical Resident Evil game. There is the option to beat the game on harder difficulties; which is what your supposed to do, but the game does get pretty repetitive after playing through 2 times. Other than that, all of the game's qualities are really over the top, they still aren't perfect, but everything in the game shines with a totally original feel.
A great experience for how long it lasts, definitely worth a play for anyone. It's a blast of old-school and new-school mixed into a formula that everyone will enjoy.
