Diddy Kong Racing - Racing past competitors?

One of the games that many remember as a classic , Diddy Kong Racing was for the N64 , and was one of the games that everyone had .
This game is a very colourfull version of Mario Kart 64 and has always been and still is , fun . You as one of the 8 (or 10 if you count the unlockable) characters are racing against each other to win balloons and fight against the evil Wizpig . This game looks quite infantile but if you play it for long enough you get past that exterior and find a game which is intriguing as it is quite deep and can even be quite tough .
The graphics on it arent as good as they were, i mean today we have next-gen xbox's and ps3's but when it came out , this game was visually amazing .
The gameplay is quite good and not very shallow but could be better as the only variations you get are boss battles and being able to drive planes and hovercraft . The weapons are inventive though , form mines to homing rockets and even bubbles which will gobble you up if you drive into one .
This is definiteley one of Rare's best projects but you can see , from here why people believe they create games for a younger audience
