A Game Where Strategy and Quick Thinking Is Essential!

Okay, I could've SWORN that I had already reviewed this game before! Weird how you can sometimes think that you HAVE done something when you actually haven't! In this somewhat lesser-known sequel to the original "Dig Dug", you once again have to clear stages of Poogars and Frygars. While you once again have the option to inflate them and pop them; the most efficient way to defeat them this time, is by creating fissures from holes that you drill with your drill. Just be forewarned that the fissures will always go out in the direction that you are facing when you drill. Also note that whenever you successfully drill a complete section of land into the water, it will always be the LEAST amount of land section that falls into the water; so plan your drilling strategies carefully. While the graphics, music, sound, and controls are definitely improved on from the first game; probably the reason this game isn't as well-known as the first one, is that the challenge is so much HARDER than the first one! The enemy A.I. can get relentlessly FAST, especially during the later stages (there are 72 different stages in all to beat, after which, it loops back to the first stage). And it's always a random guess as to whether the enemies will seemingly ignore you, or try to gun for you all at once! Thankfully, with the game available to play via the Nintendo Switch NES Virtual Console, the game is FAR more forgiving and easier to beat, thanks to the ability of the Nintendo Switch NES Virtual Console to rewind your game and save it at any point in case you need to. While the same feature is also available on the "Namco Museum Archives Vol. 2" version of this game, I still recommend playing the Nintendo Switch NES Virtual Console, as that version of the game will let you CHOOSE how far back you can rewind to, instead of just predetermining where in the game you will rewind to randomly. Still, if you want to play a challenging game that requires quick wits and fast reflexes, it's hard to go wrong with this challenging puzzle platform game from Namco! I highly recommend it for Retro Video Game enthusiasts! Enough said, true believers!
