By the grace of some higher power, the monster rearing style of gameplay has been ditched in favour of a more traditional RPG style. Like all RPGs it begins simply enough, you are forced into the role of Junior who is a keen fan of the virtual world Digimon online. You must choose a set of 3 digimon and go off to explore the virtual world which you find yourself in. A long the way this develops into a battle against a cyber-terrorist faction that's out to wreak havoc in the world. The storyline is poor and occasionally confusing and the characters are one dimensional and uninteresting. So story wise it is a definite no go.
The game is a rather bog standard RPG with about as much innovation in it as a tooth pick. You battle gain experience level up and then digivolve, you can also kit your digi-team out with gear. The combat engine is so slow reducing leveling up to a chore that one must force upon oneself. Graphically the game is surprisingly food, the FMV opening in particular is high quality. The sound, however is atrocious and the entire soundtrack is mind-bogglingly irritating. There are far better RPGs out there to be getting on with without this. Most annoying of all, is the game does posses a certain je ne sais quoi that makes it strangely appealing, I myself became a little addicted to it before hurriedly completing it.
