hated shooters, until now..

I hated shooter games....until now. I bought this game and went into it being very skeptical. This game had it hard enough by bearing the name of FF7, the most beloved game of ALL TIME and I believe there are many out there who share my opinion. Then being of a different genre all together I think stacked the cards against it even more as it would not have it's original rpg fan base to fall on. So from a non shooter, almost solely rpg game player I have to say I LOVED THIS GAME!! The game is gorgeous, it looks every bit as good as the FF7 Advent Children movie. The story is awesome it pulls you in and finally gives you the background to one of our favorite FF7 characters. I found the pacing to the game just right, it was hard enough on the normal setting to keep you on your toes but didn't overwhelm you with difficulty that ends up with many people going to the store to replace the broken controller they threw across the room at the nearest wall. The bosses uped the difficulty just enough to make you sweat but not make the game impossible to the point where I have been before, returning the game to the store for my trade in value never having seen the ending because I just couldn't beat that final boss. The game is just downright great. The only thing I could possobly say this game could have used was a little more exploration. Maybe a few more open rooms and doors to wander through. I found it just a little too linear. It would have been nice to have had a little more of an interactive setting. More things to investigate, more cupboards and desk drawers to search, more barrels and crates to smash for items and such. With that said that is the only fault I could find. I loved this game. I believe it is a definate MUST OWN for any FF fan, or shooter fan for that matter.
