Hmmm... Well my thoughts are mixed about this game, its only say 4-5 hours long, playing levels watching cut-scenes first time around. The graphics and some cut-scenes are spectacular, but it seems thats all Square was focused on.

Its got such a short play time, that its shocking there aren't more features to it, like mini games, or collectables or multiplayer. In fact the gameplay and lenght make the game seem like an arcade game that mistakenly was placed on the PS2, the gameplay isn't bad nor is fantastic. IT IS FUN, I must clarify that, the action is pretty good but in some cut-scenes vincent does some sick moves that you don't get to do, but wish you could!

The levels aren't too bad actually, except the generic sewer level, it didn't make sense, it was so generic and it was actually a boring level, and this is a shooter game.

Voice acting, and sound fx and music score is pretty good, the worst of the 3 would be voice acting, kinda lame and generic and emo.

The game is very emo.

And the boss battles are confusing, at the beginning you simply transform into your demon form and can kill the boss with absolute ease! But at the end the worst thing possible happens, bosses that have god powers, you can't knock em down, their uber fast, your demon form does jack, it'll take 20-30 minutes to beat, because their health almost consumes the screen! I hated fighting Crimson, which is what I'm refering to above, the first encounter Vincent turns into a different demon in a cut scene that is like a dragon mixed with satan (awsome) and just **** slaps her and shes down. During the fight where the player gets to play, she'll need a hell lot more than a **** slap!

All complaints aside, Dirge is a shooting game that is like an arcade game, at its good points its great, at its bad times its terrible! If your an FF fan then sure get it (I got it cuz it was FF and I was excited... not after 4 hours I wasn't) but if your a casual gamer then its a rent, definite rent, as its worth paying 7 bux to play for a few days.
