A Solid Racing Game that will leave you wanting more.........
After abysmal games like Brian Lara Cricket 2007 this? Sometimes you get the feeling that codemasters got the job done by someone else and is taking the credit.
Anyways, DIRT 2 is no arcade game. At first i was hesitant to even install this game, as i hate arcade and simulation type of games. And i absolutely despised dirt games like Motorcross Madness and could only tolerate Monster Truck Madness to some extent.
DIRT 2 though on dirt has amazing gameplay. Graphics is simple and not detailed like NFS Shift. But that makes gameplay very smooth and they have used some intelligent lighting and shader models that make the Graphics look amazing. Only if you keenly observe you can tell.
You get to drive on various tracks in various countries like Croatia, Japan, China, USA, countries of Europe, Baja etc. The replay is amazing in this game and for sometime you will watch the replay of all the races that you win or lose.
The level system though not unique is cool. As you win more matches you level up. Customization is at its very best. You get to choose a name from the list. The country that you choose will result in the change in your currency. So if you chose india the money you receive will all be in rupees and not dollars.
There are good amount of types of racing. Last man standing and Time attack are some of the few good ones. The classic start to finish sprint and circuit races are there but they seem more fun than your average racing game. There are other cool features like you can customize your Car with toys like skulls and make the interior look cool. Other unimportant features such as Buddy system are also good where nice girls become your buddy but you can't bed them like you can in Dragon Age Origins. Ah! This is a racing game sorry.
Overall the game is just pure fun. I would even go on to add that it is a more enjoyable experience than Burnout Paradise and miles better than NFS Shift. It is by far the Best Racing Game of 2009 atleast for the PC (Forza is not for PC). Do not miss this if you like racing games.
