While we all wait for Gt5 or Forza 3 we need to buy whatever racing game will fill the time until the release of these two iconic game franchises. Dirt 2 is very good in its own right but I felt myself hating the game simply because of the direction it took. The presentation and back story is what let the game down for me. Rally, In essence is about racing through variable conditions in remote parts of the world. The challenge in a Rally game should be focused on the real deal, The World Rally Championship and although this game does present the player with the More traditional Rally class racing its main focus seemed to be on the X games type Rally Drivers. In my opinion, These guys are pretenders. The game has no soul and feels corny, The buddy system is incredibly insulting. Why the hell would I want to be friends with Travis Pastrana ? Yes he did a double back flip on his bike but that does not make him a top notch rally Driver. Even the packaging reminded me of glow sticks and the whole teeny bop rave scene back in the late 90`s. I think the Direction taken is incredibly insulting to Rally purists and does no justice to the sport whatsoever. I`ll probably get slated for my opinion on this one and I don't mind, Just stand back and try understand that gamers need to be treated with a little more respect than this.
