A perfect game for kids. Plays like a mix between Mario Kart and Grand Theft Auto.
The Bad: Annoyingly small soundtrack. Fairly short story mode. Grand Prix races are boring. Gameplay: It plays like Mario Kart during the actual race missions in the game. Though it doesn't have any powerups like Mario Kart, nor are the crazy and colorful tracks here. It plays like GTA in the sense that the gameplay is pretty open ended and you can drive around doing anything you want, and do missions to unlock other missions, usually in no particular order. Of course here there aren't all the side missions and rampage fun from GTA, so it's not much TO do while not doing missions. The only thing I didn't like about handling the car was the lack of it's turning radius. It takes quite some space simply to turn around (without doing a 3-point turn). Graphics: They look pretty good on the GC. The cars look nice and cartoony and the environments look real well. Though there isn't much variety to the environments in Radiator Springs. I saw an Xbox 360 display of this game on a HDTV in Wal-Mart, and THAT version looks REALLY nice. Just thought I'd add that, lol. Sound: The good thing is that all the actors from the movie have done the voice overs here. Again, most of the speech you hear here is during the cutscenes at the beginning and end of the missions (like GTA). Though there are cute phrases the cars will say during regular gameplay too. The bad thing is that the actual soundtrack is incredibly limited. You can check the songs on the game, but I swear, there's only about 3 or 4 songs total that play as you drive around Radiator Springs. :-P They aren't bad songs, but after playing awhile, they start to get very repetitive and annoying. :-P Value: It's about as long of a game as you'd expect from a movie-licensed game. It's about 10 hours or so to complete the story mission, though there a few mini-games you can play from the main menu. Tilt: Very easy to pick up and play and get into. It's pretty shallow on gameplay and feature for adults, so I wouldn't recommend for adults. The open-endedness of the gameplay and it's nice presentation make it a great recomendation for kids though.
