This game is based on the brand new Pixar movie, thus being suitable for younger players too, as there's no violence at all (unless you regard destroying robots as violence). The graphics are well designed and on the cute side. Audio effects and music are also good but nothing you haven't heard before. The gameplay focuses on solving various logical puzzles like making it from point A to point B like reaching a certaing platform in order to find something like a crate which contains an essential item in order to proceed further or decoding a door security panel by playing a minigame, like that of remebering a sequence of colours and sounds up to a point etc. Also , some stages involve racing against a timer or shooting targets like robots or asteroids but those are a few. Minigames are unlocked by playing the main single player game and can add to the game's playability a lot, given the short length of story-mode. There are various styles of mini games to play with your friends and family , from a frogger clone to a head to head racing game. Controls are smooth but use of a joypad is advised. Configuring a gamepad is somewhat a pain though, since the default control type is the keyboard and enabling the gamepad controls can only be done manually in the game's start menu (the one that autorun launches when you insert the disk). The game's weak point is the lack of battles and a battle system. In fact, there are only a few battles that will take place and those are late in the game. Battling is done in a very simple manner (by throwing crates, ramming or zapping other robots with your laser) and is very difficult for you to get killed since you can transform in a box form at any time, making you invulnerable if you stay still. The AI of the enemy robots is idiotic which is a pity... the developers should really have made battles more difficult and more frequent. All in all, WALL-E is a good game targeting younger audience but can be played by adults too. Just be prepared for fast platforming action, somewhat easy difficulty and a lack of shooting action. Parents should definetely check this out. FPS fans should look somewhere else...
