A hidden Gem

Aladdin on the SNES is one of those games that sliped past me back in the day. This is due to the fact that I was madly in love with he Sega Genesis version. The GEN version is much different than this version and as a kid, I passed this up as an uninteresting, less action oriented game.

Upon deciding to give this version a shot, I found it to be an enjoyable platformer with a great sense of style and some good gameplay mechanics. The main gameplay mechanic is jumping, everything you do in the game other than throwing apples is done by jumping. Everything from navigating the perilous levels to conquering Enemies and Bosses is all jumping all the time. The only time this is not the case is during a few short Magic Carpet rides.

That said, the gameplay is still fun, but is widely based on trial and error, you will fall a lot and have to memorize each level to make it through. The Final boss is also a great end to the game and even after all these years Aladdin on the SNES is still worth a look.
