Neat game, but way too hard at times
I'm an active, 37 year-old gamer, and while I'll never win any championships and I always get smoked in multiplayer games, I play the range from Call of Duty to Madden, and consider myself a decent-enough gamer for a person with average intelligence. I certainly ought to be able to get through a kids game like Meet the Robinsons without too much trouble.
This game, however, was surprisingly difficult at several parts. I've started to take on the "project" of helping my son get through this game, because I want to like the game and help him, but I'm astonished with how hard some of these levels are...it takes even me, a grown adult with plenty of gaming experience, several frustrating tries to get through some parts, with my own version of throwing the controller down in anger.
I find the robot battles to be the greatest offender. The flying robots, which I go after first because they keep calling in reinforcements, are notoriously difficult to target, and it's never clear to me how many times you have to actually hit them to bring them down. The targeting itself is hinky, because it costs you energy to use the targeting system and there's always a delay, and trying to shoot them without targeting is very unpredictable. Worse, every time you finally win a battle, you have to face them all over again, but more of them the next time, and with greater varieties. I don't understand how young kids are supposed to get through stuff like this.
This game is could be a lot of fun if the difficulty level was more consistent and reasonable for the demographic. If you're looking for a challenge, you might really enjoy this game! But if you're under 10 years old, or just want a relaxing diversion at the end of a long day, try something else!
