*DISCLAIMER: This is a bit of a "hybrid review," because while it lists the PC version at the top, this is a combination of my thoughts on both the PC and PlayStation versions of the game, of which I played both*
Positives:
- Colorful visuals that will delight the younger crowd.
- All your favorite "Winnie the Pooh" characters are here and retain their typical charm.
- Some fun minigames for a young audience.
- Simple without being patronizing, while also adding a bit more challenge for young players learning how to problem solve.
- Little bits of music are lovely, and the sound design is pretty memorable.
- The classic voice actors are here and they sound great.
Negatives:
- Rather slow-paced, even for a game meant for small children.
- The PC version only requires players to beat the minigames on the first difficulty level, while the PlayStation version requires the players to beat them on all three difficulties. I feel like there could've been a compromise there.
- Naturally, some minigames are more fun than others.
- Dialogue can get a bit *too* repetitive, even if this is the kind of game you'd expect that out of.
Consensus: It seems strange to review something like this, but I randomly revisited "Winnie the Pooh Preschool" recently to relive some of my old childhood memories with the game. Obviously, it's nothing amazing now, but for an edutainment game made for the youngest of the young, it serves its purpose very well. It's especially good for the budding "Winnie the Pooh" fan in the family, as it has all the simplistic charm and lovable characters the series is known for. Obviously, if you're not a kid, it's not exactly a stimulating treat for the senses, but it's fine for the kiddies.
Final rating: 6 out of 10 "Decent"
