If you do not have XBox live, only play for stress relief, like a long open world campaigns, you will like this RPG.

I am so glad I gave this one a shot. It is a great game and a worth while alternative while you wait for the next Elder Scrolls. If you are like me in that you like open world RPGs with good "fantasy" music that really sinks you into another world, you will like this. I only buy a few games a year, RPGs and Racing so I am far from a hard core game player. Gave up on first person shooters because the campaigns are always too short and not worth the money. My favorite game is Morrowind and like many was disappointed when I first discovered Oblivion got rid of flying and recognized how Bethesda dumbed it down a little. Then, like everyone else, I came around on Oblivion and loved it. I really like the Fallout games and Red Dead but Dragon Age and Mass Effect leave me a little unsatisfied. Why I am telling you what I like? Because I am NOT your typical hardcore game player but I know there must be a lot of people like me out there that do not care about playing live or socializing through XBox and are clicking around Gamespot looking for something... anything... to scratch that itch.

Divinity II is a very good RPG that is simplified in some ways but remains true and fresh in others. First, details such as needs for the character to sleep or rest are not part of the game. In fact, time does not change and each area is always some version of daytime. At first this annoyed me because I had just finished New Vegas but soon got used to it and liked it. Also, every new character has the option to use skills from each of the big four classes (fighter, mage, priest, and thief). But do not think that you will be able to become an expert in all of them with just one character. In fact there are enough skills and level options that you will only be able to become proficient in a few choices within a class but it is very satisfying. For example, I choose fighter with melee options but was able to throw a few skill points at Fireball, Summoning, and Healing and used them effectively. Also, no morality. You can take anything you can see or open without consequence even if it is in a friendly NPC house while they are there. In fact, if they are sitting at a table eating, you can take their food off the table and they will not budge. Again, very odd at first especially after playing Fallout but you get used to it and focus on so many other things. There are lots of areas to visit as well as many weapons, armor, enhancements, charms, books, and ingredients.

The detail and beauty within the dungeons and indoors are amazing and much better than the Bethesda games. You can't touch as much but it make for a great environment and the music always matches well. There are many things to find and they are not always behind secret doors. All it takes a good eye to notice them but you are not led to them. Acting and plots are par so if you are really into that go for Dragon Age or Mass Effect.

Finally, you get to fly! The dragon part is very well done. You easily can change from person to dragon and back. This adds a new way of exploring. Morrowind fans will get this. Air battles are not complex but are fun and most importantly do not take away from the game's focus. You still have to get on the ground and go into dungeons and kill bosses as a person. But the dragon also has its own set of skill options that advances with your level as well as armor.

I really enjoyed this game so if you "are like me" give it a shot. Yes, there are some glitches but they will probably be fixed in this newest version. Just save a lot and you will be fine. I really hope games return to campaigns but it looks like Live has taken over and since that is where the money is that is where the games go. But hopefully games like Divinity II will continue to be released to keep casual players happy.
