DJMax P is a good reason to own a PSP, highly addictive and fun. If you're a rhythm game fan you won't be disappointed.
DJ Max portable is the handheld version of a popular Korean online rhythm game called DJ Max. The game is very similar to Konami's Beatmania, notes come down on the screen which have to be “hit” in time with the music. DJ Max unlike Beatmania is a much more visually appealing game, so the notes are easier to see and hit in time. Also the game does not penalise you for hitting notes when there aren’t any, only when you miss a one. This makes game much more enjoyable to pickup and play, even for those who have not played a similar game before. The game however is bar far from “easy” mode, it comes with many options – from the amount of buttons used (4keys, 6keys and later 8keys) to different song levels (such as hard, MX) and game modifier (speed, smoke, random and etc).
The game comes with about 50 tracks, most of which are a techno/dance/RnB type music. There is plenty of stuff to unlock – such as image gallery, skins, notes and etc. The game features: Normal play (standard 4 song play with a total score at the end), Club (4 songs back to back or a certain type) and Freestyle. It also has a Music player where you can listen to each song, MV clips and Image gallery.
Unfortunately there is no multiplayer support, which is the only downside of the game considering the PC version is based around online play. It's the only thing that keeps this game from getting a perfect score.
DJ Max portable is easy to pick up and play, but it is VERY hard to master. It’s one of those games that will keep you coming back for more and more long after you got it.
