Could also go as "All Flash, no substance".

User Rating: 5.5 | DmC: Devil May Cry X360
Well, I ended up renting the game for a day to see all the hype as the new game is announced but man, was I ever disappointed.

Gameplay:
The gameplay is basically the same as the majority of the DMC series as it is a hack and slash game. You fight a basic round of enemies as you make yourself through the level, eventually facing up to a boss where you decrease their health and trigger different stages of the battle which eventually kills them. This is all related to the DMC series but there are a few flaws which make the gameplay just disappointing if not horrible.

#1: The game is too easy. For a DMC game, I had been expecting to get through the game sweating blood and tears but I could clear the hardest difficulty feeling as if it was only about average difficulty which was disappointing. It was probably to invite new players to the series but it is disappointing to anyone who enjoyed the challenge of the older games.

#2: While the game does seem easy to pick up, there isn't much of a depth in the actual combo system. Some of the attacks do look pretty but it does not have any challenge in pulling off combos which may or may not be a good thing depending on your opinion but for me, it felt like I could just mash buttons and get through the game on that alone.

#3: Been there, done that. Other than these flaws, it felt like I've already done all of these things before in the combat system and reminded me that I could be playing DMC 3 or 4 but with better gameplay than DmC which offered no new significant changes. In other words, it was lacking.

Story:
The story...was just garbage. Now, DMC series are not really known for their plot telling and characters but man, it felt like I went back to DMC 1 if not even worse (by how ridiculous it is). I won't spoil it for you but it is not going to make the best story ever list and the characters (even "Dante" himself is boring) feel bland. In fact, I couldn't even relate or appreciate even 1 of the characters and that was a shame.

Music:
The music feels basically the same but I'm not really a fan of it in the first place so no complaints there.

The graphics:
The graphics do look nice at some parts of the game which make them really come through but in other parts of the game, I felt like there was no inspiration in it.

Verdict:
To be honest, I was going to play this game regardless of the new look or not but this game is too much of a disappointment. It feels like a waste of time with the gameplay being disappointing to say the least, the story being laughable and the characters feeling bland.
