Not a real Devil may cry, but still a great hack n' slash
The combat has gotten much better and the mix of new weapons make it feel surprisingly fresh and fun even though lack of a better Devil trigger option might make players reluctant to use the devil trigger besides a few times in the game.
The gameplay in the first standard difficulties is extremely easy and you might not even die once if you know what you're doing, the game only starts to become a little challenging when you open up Son of Sparda difficulty which is still relatively easy.
The story just sucks, it's shallow and it fails to be as epic as it aims to be, I loved the beginning when the guy on TV was talking and promised me a deeper story and a nice philosophical view of today's world which the game's setting is based on. so in my opinion the story could've been much more. the characters are not that interesting either, Vergil that we all loved has become a little too shallow as has Dante and the only interesting character in the whole game was perhaps Kat.
The only thing in this installment that makes it exceptional to the rest of the Devil may cry games out there is the visuals which is brilliant and absolutely stunning, it would've been nice to fight in the human world every once in a while but limbo was a world that you couldn't get enough of.
overall the game was worth the money spent on it and even though I couldn't shake the feeling that "this isn't a DMC" but I enjoyed playing the game to the end nonetheless(and it was a short trip)
Such a shame that a devil didn't get to cry in the end....
