You're a gamer -- right?
Have you ever tried to tell friends -- even fellow gamers -- what a particular game was like, and weren't quite able to fully convey the experience?
You realize at a certain point: the only way that they can truly relate to your experience is if they play the game themselves.
And that is all I can recommend here. The game's free, anyway.
Also, in this case, it's also the only way spoilers can be avoided.
What I can tell you: It's a slightly interactive visual novel, where you are a high school student who joins a Literature Club at a friend's behest. You meet other students who are members of the Literature Club. Friendships develop -- but so does drama, and I doubt you will soon forget how it plays out.
This may not seem like "your kind of game", but don't worry; the games you usually prefer aren't going anywhere. You, however, will go somewhere if you give Doki Doki Literature Club a try -- and you're not coming back without a few scars.
I've played many of the biggest hits of 2017. However, Doki Doki Literature Club is probably the last one I'll ever forget.
