The original Game Boy didn't see many releases as slick as this quasi-remake of the arcade classic Donkey Kong.

Take the original Donkey Kong, add dozens more levels, awesome new moves and a puzzle-like present collecting thinkers edge and package it for the green screened Nintendo sales monster the Game Boy, and you end up with one of the most satisfying old school portable games ever. You are Mario, and you have to save the princess, like always, this time your enemy is Donkey Kong. Donkey Kong 1994 borrows from the original Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr, and Super Mario Bros. 2. You climb vines, ladders, chains and wires and collect the same three presents every board and the ultimate goal in each level is to get that pesky key to the keyhole. This starts off prestty easy but by the time you get to level 7-9 you really have to excersize your noodle to figure some of the boards out. The Game Boy graphics are top notch (for Game Boy), the sound mixes old with new and borrows alot from old DK games. The gameplay is very sharpe and clean (on the GBA, but playing it with an aged SNES pad on Super Game Boy proved to be a bit tougher, but still not horrid.) Any one who has played Mario Vs. Donkey Kong will absolutely love Donkey Kong and anyone looking for a solid portable title that is easy to pick up and play...needs to check out ebay or amazon for a cheap used copy.
