Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest provides a long, memorable journey that's a whole lot of fun to play.
First off, the gameplay in the game is great. As Diddy, you can somersault to kill baddies and run very fast. Dixie attacks by spinning her hair, and by doing the same thing midair, she can glide through the air to reach seemingly out of reach places. Both characters can also attack by jumping on their foes. The difficulty level in this sequel is higher than in the original, so prepare for some very hard and frustrating levels, notably boss fights, some of which are very tough to beat, but make you feel satisfied once you do. Overall the controls are very good, and pretty easy to get into. Diddy's Kong Quest is a very fun game to play.
The graphics in the game are top-notch. It does'nt get a whole lot better than this on the SNES. The character and enemy models are very well done, as are the backgrounds. I have no complaints whatsoever on the graphical side of the game.
The sound, while not quite as good as the graphics, gets the job done right. The music in the game's levels, while not mind-blowing, suits the action well. The sound effects are much better, however, as characters and enemies react as they should. Overall the sound is great although it could've used some better music.
DKC2 is a game that should keep you busy for quite a while. It took me about 18 hours to complete the game with a 102% rating, but I believe it should take about 20 hours for the average gamer to complete the whole thing. If you don't expect to complete it with the 102% rating, then you can cut quite a few hours of of there. You can also go through the adventure with a friend, either by playing with or against him or her. Anyway you look at it, this game is a quality purchase.
I would definitely recommend Diddy's Kong Quest to anyone who owns a SNES, because it's one of the best games available on the console. If you own the system, go for it!
