The best in the Donkey Kong Country series and the best 2D Platformer ever alongside Super Mario World in my opinion.

User Rating: 10 | Super Donkey Kong 2: Dixie & Diddy SNES
Donkey Kong Country was a revolutionary game for the 2D platforming franchise and was the game that saved the SNES after Sega had announced that they would release a CD add-on for the Genesis. The game was the first that used pre-rendered 3D graphics and was the first to actually feature a team work type of system that worked very well. Rare had made this awesome game and well, after the success of Donkey Kong Country they decided to make Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy Kong's Quest and boy is this game awesome. It is the best in the Doneky Kong Country series and the best 2D platformer ever alongside Super Mario World in my opinion. Now let me tell you the reasons why;

The game has a new character and she is my favourite in the whole series. Her name is Dixie Kong, she is the girlfriend of DIddy Kong and she can glide in the air for some time with her hair. This is an awesome speciality with her and that is the reason I prefer her than any other character from the DK world. Along with Dixie Kong, Diddy Kong makes a return after his appearance in DKC 1. Diddy Kong is awesome too and he can jump quite well and I like the way he attacks. Well, these two work better than Donkey Kong and Diddy did, because I think Diddy is better with Dixie. There was also a great new addition in this game, which is the partner system or whatever it is called. You can now grab your partner that is being computer controlled and then use the partner to get to higher places or get an item or coin or something and also you can attack enemies like this too by throwing at them with your partner. This is in my opinion one of the best improvements in DKC 2.

The story is that Kaptain K. Rool has kidnapped Donkey Kong and that you must rescue him with Diddy and Dixie. The plot may not be all that but since when has the story been the main part of platformers, so I think it is okay. At least the last boss battle with Kaptain K. Rool is fantastic.

The graphics were also improved abit. Remember how awesome DKC graphics were for the SNES, well they're better in DKC 2. The graphics have more of a cartoony fell than DKC's and the graphics are in my opinion more detailed than they were in DKC and the graphics are beautiful in this game. A good appluase to Rare for the brilliant graphics in this game to make the levels, characters and enemies to look very cartoony and fresh. So the graphics are yet again great, some of the best graphics you can ever see in a SNES game.

Speaking of levels, the levels in this game are awesome. They are fun and my favourite levels are the first levels of the game and the mine cart levels. There are worlds and in each world there are usually 5-I think 7 levels. The game's levels are awesome, most are even better than the levels in DKC. In levels you can get to bonus stages if you find a Bonus Barrel and enter into one and this begins the bonus stage. You usually get a Kremcoin after you finish a bonus which you can use to get to different places in the game and stuff like that but sometimes you may even get a DK Coin. Wondering what this DK Coin is if you've never played this game before? I'll tell you. Like in Super Mario 64 or BK or some other platformers you usually have to collect a very special item means you have the most important item from the level, well, the DK Coin is like that. In the first few levels it will be easy to find them but later on you'll be maybe in a level 20-30 minutes just looking for this special coin. And there is a reward if you have the highest number of DK coins than anyone else when you finish the game (yes, you have competitors, Mario, Link and Yoshi so don't think you can get maybe 10 DK Coins and get that reward) and that reward is that you get to go to a secret world and this is in my opinion one heck of an addition. This is great, you're hard work will be rewarded but it is going to be hard work, trust me. In each level like in DKC you can collect the letters K-O-N-G and if you have all four you get an extra continue at the end of the level. Also, you get a random item at each level when you jump on top of the board that is showing the random item and the item that is there when you jump on the board, that is what you'll get and also the is one nice touch too, the character that you were controlling before the level ended will do a nice solo, Dixie uses the electronic guitar and Diddy does a rap type of thing but he eeps when he does it. (well he is a monkey, what do you expect) Ther are also boss battles at the end of each world which are great, fun and soetimes challenging. So the levels are awesome and the animals you could in DKC are also here and there is a new addition, a Spider, not sure if there were more.

The music is brilliant, good and catchy music you could listen to almost all day long, at least I could. So the music is great in this game like it was in its predecessor. Great music composed by David Wise, a former Rare composer and a famous British video game composer.

Along with Dixie and Diddy there are some other NPC who are; Funky Kong who has a transportation vehicle for you to use in the game, Cranky Kong who gives you tips where to find some coins and items in levels and also gives advice if you pay him and also makes jokes, Wrinkly Kong who is new and she helps you to save and also gives guidance, Swanky Kong who has a gameshow where you can get items from if you do well. These are the characters that help you out in the game and they are great.

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy Kong's Quest is a better game than its predecessor Donkey Kong Country in almost every aspect and I think it is one of the greatest games out there even today and if you haven't played this, I advice you to play it, maybe get it for the Wii Virtual Console if you have a Wii or get it for the GBA if you can but if you can't, then you could surely only dream of how awesome this game is because you really have to play it to know how it feels.
