Reviving games long past seems to be a trend. Donkey Kong Country does it so well, it feels at home with the old ones.

If anything when a game new game comes out in a series your always asking yourself is it going to be horrible or not as good as the other. But what if a game had been nearly dead for fifteen years and Nintendo approaches a new company to take over. Many old-school gamers would agree that Donkey Kong Country games were among so of the funnest games on the SNES. Rare created a unique premises for the game. 15 years later Retro Studios is challenged wit the task to revive the once popular Donkey Kong Country games. They did it and much more, setting a new standard for platform games. I loved this game just as much as I did the old ones.

The story is pretty simple but you don't play Donkey Kong or Mario for the story, Your bannana's have been stolen by evil tiki's, get them back. The item collecting in levels takes a big step forward as well, ther are puzzule peices and Kong letters literally hidden everywhere. Puzzle peices unlock Items in the art Gallery. While kong letters open up hidden levels.

If one thing is for certain Donkey Kong Country Returns will bring out the kid in any oldschool gamer. Remember the mine cart levels and how much of a blast they were, Well Returns builds on them so much they are litterally, loaded with more enemies more jumps, speed things along at an even faster pace. You will find yourself struggling to survive let alone collecting everthing. Now. The overall design of the levels is unique especially your boss fights. In one of th worlds you will encounter moles in mine carts which you have to carefully avoide there pick axes and catch up to the cart they ride. then jump on there heads, yeah, its pretty intense game of Wack A Mole. The biggest level design comes from the this rocket you have to ride on. Each rocket level gets harder and harder, it becomes more of memorization to beat them than skill, though it requires a bit of both.

Weather your new to the Donkey Kong Country Series or vetran of the old SNES games, like me. This game is on par or many will even say better than its predasessors. Who knows We might even see Donkey Kong Country Returnes 2, which could be better than this. what mroe could a a fan want after 15 years of patently waiting for a new game. 10/10
