This is my absolute favorite game, and has been since I was about five or six. The graphics, for the time, were the best by far, and even though they were created in the early days, they capture the most distinctive feeling of any game I've seen yet. It's like there is soul behind those mysterious, beautiful rustic environment parts. I have seen nothing so far that has been able to match it's sentimental value.

The music is just as good as the visuals--extremely unforgettable and absolutely amazing. As any fan would know, a soundtrack was created, "DK Jamz." The music matches the environments flawlessly. It seems impossible. There are sound elements, such as this dark mournful sound echo that almost reminds you of a monkey or gorilla, that make the game.

The gameplay is fitting to my other descriptions. Absolutely amazing. It offers just the right amount of challenge, and in a frighteningly precise way. Just when you think you've had it towards the end of the game, you come through.

This is an absolute must-have. I seriously cannot explain it, but something is alive in the game and there is just this equilibrium of color, sound and visuals that just cannot seem to be repeated.

The sequals of the game, DKC 2 & 3, do not come close to this one, nor do the ports.
