When I heard this game was going to come out, I about flipped! It was the first port of DKC since the original. I hadn't played the genuine DKC (SNES) for several years (not by choice), but it is my absolute favorite game, so as you can imagine, I was going through quite a bit of withdraw. After it was available, it was what I asked for for a Christmas present. I was thrilled to get it and immediately plugged it into my GBC, and to my delight, the game started exactly the way the original had, with the Rareware opening. The map screen was the same (lower res) as on the original, and when I quickly played to get to the ever-famous Mine Cart Carnage I was freaked to see that it was also the same. Other than a new main menu and some new features, this game is pretty much a severely compressed port of the original (allowing the GBC to accommodate it). I spent so long with this game after it came out, bringing it with me everywhere and eating potetially boring hours up, I still have it, unlike my GBC, in a gameboy cartridge case, looking as good as it did when I first opened it.
