DK Jungle Beat is a must-play platformer--even if you've played the original. In fact, it might be the best DK game ever

The words "New Play Control" are enough to make some people cringe. But if you are a platforming fan, Jungle Beat is an absolute must-play. None of us like rehashes, but Nintendo really has done something great with NPC: DK Jungle Beat. They've managed to make one of their greatest platformers even better, and they did it by taking away the revolutionary controls. What? I don't know how they did it, but the result is a platformer that you simply have to play.

As you probably know, the original Jungle Beat was controlled with a pair of Bongo's that came bundled with the game. It was really fun, but it could also be innacurate, and frustrating. The new Wii one takes a more standard approach to the game. You know, Wiimote, nunchuck, buttons--pretty much OLD play control. The funny thing is, though, it actually makes the game better. The controls are more fluid, and accurate, and it ultimately makes the game more enjoyable.

You should know that, despite the old-school controls, this is by no means a traditional platformer. In fact it's downright weird. This game was developed by the same team that developed Super Mario Galaxy, so the game is pretty wacky, as you might imaging. But what helps it stand out from the crowd is it's deep combo system. The new controls will help you appreciate it even more.

The only problem with this game is its reletively short length. Thankfully, there's plenty of unlockable levels and replayability, and with it's cheap price point, it doesn't really matter all that much. Seriously, if you're a platforming fan, you need to play this. It may be a re-make, but it's a darn good one.
