Doom 3 is the third game in the series (hence the 3 at the end of the name) this game first came out on the PC and gave us very awesome graphics, and it does the same on the xbox version. Everything looks almost real, or "disturbing realistic" as the back of the box says. You play as a marine who has just transfered to mars, soon after you get your orders for you first mission all hell breaks loose.....literally. So you must progress through Mars figuring out what happened, and trying to stop it from spreading to earth. So you load up with weapons from your pistols, and shotguns, to the odd but potent chainsaw and do gods work. As i said the graphics are great but this isn't what this game is about, its about shock and surprise. Instead of having an enemy actually look really scary (like Resident Evil, or Silent Hill) you get chills going up your spine from creatures jumping out of nowhere, weird chanting, and the sounds of demons screeching. The fact that you can either hold a gun or hold your flashlight adds a new element, because lets face it, when fighting the forces of evil you would like gun, but you'd also like to see whats out there, so you kind of get that scared feeling or at least i did. At first you start off fighting agaianst Zombies, and Zombie Security teams, which you can handle with either your pistol or trusty shotgun, but soon you'll start fighting Hellknights, Archvilles, Pinkys, Revenants' and Mancubus. You'll soon be wishing for zombies to come back. But there is a downside, the game play is pretty much the same over and over, find a key card, or pda then go to the new door you can open then kill what ever jumps out of the dark corner, which kinda gets old. And although you have about 10 weapons, you mostly stick to an automatic weapon, the shotgun, a rocket launcher and the soul cube, which can all be mapped to the d-pad and you can switch on the fly. And after a while you can pretty much guess where they're coming from. Most of the boss battles are just shoot the Hell out of it then shoot it some more, which just leaves you saying what was that, or that was easy. The co-op mode is pretty fun if youre playing with someone that knows to stay on one side while you stay on the other, because if you dont then you'll end up ripping each other to shreds accidently. Plus theres no story mode, its pretty much run and gun through levels till you get to the end. The deathmatches, and team play is what youd expect them to be, but leave the multiplayer stuff to Halo. But all together the game is pretty good, not exactly the best thing out there but pretty close
Gameplay Gameplay in Doom 3 is pretty simple but fun. You walk around, shoot monsters. That's pretty much it. You really never really run out of ammo so, unless you have a really bad aim, you really don't have to str... Read Full Review
