I've tried to watch Hollywood's Scary movies in theatres and at home for over 20 years now, and most of them are just 90 minutes of boring garbage. You rarely jump, and never do you get that sense of "Creepiness" where the film is getting under your skin. Enter "DOOM 3"......which uses fantastic visuals, sound and special effects to make this one of those games that you might only play for 20 minutes at a time, BECAUSE IT'S GETTING TO YOU. Especially if you're smart enough to play this game in a DARK ROOM with 5.1 Surround Sound, and "Nobody watching you, or calming you down by talking to you" Sure, there really isn't a STORY....but it does not matter. THIS GAME MAKES YOU REACT,and makes you look at every different corridor and room differently. One of the great tricks of DOOM 3 is how "Non Bad Things" can lead to the creepiness. Boxes in a room will fall, Computers will all of a sudden fry, and you're never sure why. Sometimes it's the rooms that you didn't find anything in, that get to your nerves the most. (Because you're sure something is going to jump out at you) And the constant areas where you have to PUT AWAY YOUR GUN, and pull out a worthless FLASHLIGHT........... Most games could use a good STORYLINE to make the overall boring gameplay, better. Doom 3 doesn't need one. And SMART GAMER'S who want the total experience, will not just charge into every room guns blazing, and instead ......take your time, let the music, sfx and bumps on your arm, BUILD. That's why you BUY GAMES, right....to get the total experience? So turn down the lights, and power up the surround sound....and then come back twice a day to play another 30 minutes. This could just be one of those games that creeps you out, for over a month. Eat your heart out, Hollywood.
Gameplay Gameplay in Doom 3 is pretty simple but fun. You walk around, shoot monsters. That's pretty much it. You really never really run out of ammo so, unless you have a really bad aim, you really don't have to str... Read Full Review
