Doom 3 Resurrection of Evil is an expansion to the original Doom 3 which takes place 2 years after Doom 3. Before the tragic accident in the UAC base on Mars there was a strange signal before the invasion in the UAC facility. After the portal to Hell is sealed a research team is to invistagate it. You're once again a nameless marine to invistagate this. As you and your squad is looking around a secret room chamber, your team discovered an artifact. Your character then touches the artifact, your whole team dies, and the portal to Hell opens once again. Not much has change sense the orginal Doom 3. You still have your dark spooky atmosphere, same original demons, and your classic Doom gun. What has change about Doom 3 is there is new weapons, demons, and included in the package is the old classic Doom. The only two new weapons, the Ionized Plasma Levitator(which is really similar to Half Life 2's gravity gun), and the double barrel shotgun, which is amazingly powerful and it is from the orginal Doom. There are new demons like flying skulls, some awsome new bosses, and many more. Also the flashlight has been replace with a pistol with a built in flashlight just to let you know.;) You can also use the artifact you found in the beggining of the game. The artifact is very different from the Soul Cube. The artifact can slow down time as you move, fire, and reload normaly. As you progress through the game the artifact has more special power. While going through the game you will have refill your artifact by sucking the souls out of dead bodies. The pace of the game has changed a little bit. It seems you fight more enemies all at once more then the orginal Doom 3. This is why the artifact comes in handy. Even though it might seem amazing to be honest the game is less impressive then the Doom 3. The campaign is much shorter, I beated it in two days and it should take you 5-10 hours to beat. While playing I noticed that even the levels seems to be very short. Some levels also doesn't have that much demons to kill. In one level you just got to killed about 5 demons and then the level ends. What the developers did to make it more replayable is add in the old classic Doom like Ultimate Doom, Doom 2, and Doom 2 Master Levels. Even though it is kind of nice to play the old Doom games it still doesn't make up for the hold package all together. The old Doom games can be played split-screen co-op and deathmatch. The Xbox Live isn't that impressive either. The developers took out the online co-op which made the orginal Doom 3 more replay value. There is still the standard 4 player deathmatch, last man standing, and tournaments, but even that doesn't impressed me sense there isn't anybody playing. The sound is still good as the last Doom 3. You still have your spooky laugh and sound. To sum it all up, this game doesn't offer that much to offer except the campaign and the old Doom. Unless you're a Doom 3 fan(like me), don't expect that much out of this package. If you think this game will be very much like the original Doom 3, then this will dissapoint you. In my opinion I think this game is pretty good, sense I want more out of Doom 3. This is good, but not as good as the orginal Doom 3.
