The ONLY PS2 game rated: Early Childhood

User Rating: 7 | Dora the Explorer: Journey to the Purple Planet PS2
Personally, I think the game is really slow paced, boring, and repetitive.. But it’s not aimed at me (27 year old male), it’s aimed at kids. I bought it for my 3 year old daughter and she loves the thing. I’ll want to play Madden or Fifa (She calls both games “EA Sports!” lol), and she’ll want to “help my friends find the purple planet!”

Basicly you play as Dora, and then boots follows you around everywhere. You walk around large open Environments and collect green space gems to fuel the rocket ship so you can help your lost friends find their way to the purple planet. You start on earth, and the levels are broken up into smaller locations, for example on earth you have Turtle River, Icky Sticky Sands, and then Crocodile Lake. The game follows the format of the show pretty well. Some of the levels are too wide open IMO, and it’s easy to accidentally go in a big circle before realizing you should have taken that OTHER fork in the road. After you finish the earth level there are several other levles, the green planet, the red planet, ect and they all have their own themes. My daugher seems to like the Green Planet the best. I wish they would have put in a little more variety as far as things you pick up (it’s like, ALL green space gems..) but looking at it as a three to six year old kid.. I think it’s a pretty good game for them. Like I said, my daughter LOVES this game and I think it’s cool that there is at least one game out there that she can play and enjoy. I’ll give it a 7.
