A wonderfully addictive time waster.

User Rating: 8 | Dr. Mario Online RX WII
When Wiiware was first announced, many were pleased but worried that the space limits would leave Wii owners with short and shallow games.

As a Wiiware launch title, Dr. Mario Online Rx makes the most of 1000 points. Instead of simply porting the old NES game to the VC, Dr. Mario was given a splashy graphical makeover, a few new modes and some much welcome online play.

Not much has changed. Use multi-colored pills to zap viruses of the same color. As levels progress, more viruses appear and you have to wipe them out before the pills stack too high. There's flash mode where you see how fast you can elminate the flashing viruses as well as the new Virus Buster mode which is slower but plays more like a point and click version of Dr. Mario. Though, honestly I didn't like this mode that much. It felt very clunky and all too often I found my pills landing in the wrong place. Though its fun watching your army of Miis trample the viruses.

But the real clincher is online play. Matches are smooth and lag free. Codes are still used but you can always find someone on "Worldwide" matches. It also lets you use your Mii when going head to head against an opponent. You can even send a Wii friend a demo version.

Dr. Mario is a solid Wiiware download with endless replay value and a great one just to sit around a kill time with.
