In some ways, I like this game better than the original. There is less emphasis on lengthy dungeon crawls and boss fights ( e.g. deep roads) and more on finding a story or adventure almost around every corner. I also liked having less management of bloated inventories. The combat is very fast paced and fun to watch. On the negative side, it's a little irritating losing certain characters during the game if you don't say and do exactly the right things in exactly the right sequence. I like to plan and develop and keep my party throughout the game. The ending is okay, but I did not get the same feeling of accomplishment and closure that I got in the original. Perhaps that is deliberate with the idea of setting up future content. On balance, I consider this game to be one of the best I've played.
