A solid, though no perfect RPG
The storyline is good, though definitely not original and quite predictable most of the time. That doesn't bother me hugely, there is a bit of a conspiracy plot going on that keeps you interested, but the characters are all pretty much what you'd expect from a game like this.
The graphics are nice, though nothing ground breaking. The action of the game is almost a carbon copy of any of its predecessors. Not that you need to take huge or strange steps forward to make a good game, just noting the obvious.
The only huge complaint I had about the game, outside of the deja vu of feeling like I was back in Neverwinter Nights 2, was the difficulty of the game. I'm not the kind of person that likes to just breeze through things, but in my opinion, players should be given adequate means to prepare themselves for challenges. In this game, I didn't feel like they always necessarily provided that opportunity. I played through it on Normal, and there were some situations that I just felt a little strained, having to play them a few times in order to live through it, and it just seemed to push a little too much in that area. This is a combination of a couple things: limited resources for buying up to date equipment, enemies being on par or better than you as far as dealing/taking damage, and almost always being outnumbered 2 to 1. I also didn't really ever have a healer during my time in the game (Which I'm sure was a relatively small % of the whole), so that made things pretty hard.
To me, the game is solid. Not mind-blowing, not phenomenal, just solid. I might also add that I would have given it a slightly higher score had I not run into some strange technical issues with the game: i.e. random crashes and what not.
If you've never played a game like this, and it was what you were waiting for you whole life, or you REALLY REALLY enjoyed games like it that were made before, then you probably enjoyed it more than I did. However, if you're like me and are not a huge fan of the genre in particular, then it's probably just good.
