when was the last time you actually felt immersed in a game world? when was the last time you played a game for hours on end?
when was the last time you actually played a good rpg?
well wait no longer, for dragon age is the game for you. for all of you who want to know if they want to buy it or not, GO GET IT RIGHT F ING NOOOOOOW! this game will blow your MIND! so anyways, for the rest of you out there reading this to see what it's all about, continue. so, you start out with a pretty cool cutscene, explaining how the darkspawn came to be, and so on and so forth. then, for all of you mmo players out there, you felt right at home. welcome to the character creation! so you start out with the basics. gender, race (humans, dwarves, or elves), class (warrior, mage, or rouge), then origin. now those of you out there may think that origin is just a space filler, doesn't mean anything. but, ladies and gentlemen, it is the most important part of the whole game. anyways, depending on which race and class you pick, you choose a different origin. your origin depicts the "tutorial", which is actually very interesting and fun. the next part of the character creation is the appearance thing. now this part is pretty fun to mess around with, but takes a LOOOOOOOOONG time. but you can do just about anything. you can make practically anyone from jacky chan, to micheal jackson. anyways, lots you can do, but, you can only change the face. that's it. on to the skills part of the character creation! yay! there's like 3 different types of them tho. there's the item creation and such skills, the stat point skills, and then the abilities. first, you choose your stats. then, you choose your item skills. now, there's a lot of them. and not just item creation ones. there's one called, coercion, which allows you to persuade or intimidate in conversations easier, there's thievery, there's weapon strategy, there's weapon training, herbalism, poison making (which has bomb creation also), trap making, and that's all i remember. now, the abilities section is quite interesting. there's 4 columns of abilities, different sections, and several rows in each section. lets say you choose to become a warrior. the different sections would be dual wielding, archery, sword and shield, and two-handed. this is where you decide what the hell your gonna use for the rest of the game. lets say you go with sword and shield. the ability on the far left of each column is available. this is because each time you unlock an ability, the next one over becomes available. so you can choose from shield proficiency (passive), shield bash(activated), or defensive stance (sustained). you can choose 2 of them. now, another thing to consider is that higher level abilities require higher stat points, so make sure you level your stats accordingly. so now that you've chosen sword and shield, you've become stuck with whatever sword and shield you have available if you want any hope of surviving the hordes of darkspawn =D. so after that you choose your difficulty setting and no i'm not done yet lol. now, depending on which origin you picked (for instance lets say you picked a dwarf noble). so in this case, you would start out in the dwarven kingdom of somethingoranotherflem. now you get to experience the real fun! just to add, graphics are exceptionally good, and settings are detailed and beautiful. anyways, voice acting is impressingly good, and adds to the effect. so your a dwarf noble, and you have lots and lots and lots and lots of choices on how your games story will go depending on what you say to people. these things will make a HUGE difference in the story. and that's we're i end your little sneak preivew of the game. fighting is fun and slightly interactive, and there's lots of loot to be had. strategy is needed here and there, and sometimes you'll have to lower the difficulty to be able to get by the massive camps of darkspawn, but don't be ashamed (everyone does it). the story for this game is extensively good and immersing, and you'll never be disappointed with a lame joke in the cutscenes followed by really gay laughing. anyways, very very good game, and highly suggest you play it. the replay value is very good, and will be a promised 100+ hours of gameplay. thank you for reading!
