A fun game, but could have been even better.

This was a very fun game. I liked the different beginning story modes to choose from and they all seemed to come together nicely when joining the Grey Wardens. The load times are a little long and too frequent. At first glance there seems to be alot of options when it comes to weapons and armor, but alas all the developers did was master the art of 20 different names for the same looking ax or sword. One positive to the weapons and armor in my opinion is not having to repair them after every battle like Oblivion. I thought having the additional companions during the game was a great idea. It made the game challenging at times when you needed to bounce between all 4 companions using their different abilities to complete a boss fight or certain level. Also having the unused companions still level up as you did encouraged using all instead of the first 3 you encounter. My main problem with game is that it is not nearly long enough. My first run through I did a few but not all side quests and I was done in 36 hrs. Unless you just really run around looking at nothing will you hit over 55+ hrs of game play. Some of the areas look too similar as well. The lack of ability to wander free throughout Ferelden I think contributes to making the game feel small. This actually made me appreciate Oblivion more when I used to complain at times about having to travel so far to get to a quest. All in all a really good game. I think it will fit better with people who do not want to get totally immersed in a game and nit pick every detail. Had fun playing it.
