From a developing team that respects herself and her loyal byers comes an Epic Saga in the Spirit of Baldur's Gate.

User Rating: 10 | Dragon Age: Origins (Collector's Edition) PC
I never thought that I would give a perfect 10 in a computer game. Ever. I now know that I was mistaken because Dragon Age Origins is everything that I ever wanted in a game.

Instead of explaining the game structure, commenting on the graphics, the music and the game engine, I will try to describe in the best of my ability, the feelings that I have experienced while playing this masterpiece.

First of all The Director has done a brilliant job in introducing the player in the world. Then with excellent selling and clever marketing the player finds himself absorbed in the game world, while the pre-released hype and the printed books around the world start to build in him. As a result the player comes addicted and no longer can escape the grasp of Ferelden.

Then, they are the characters. Is it a sin to say that I actually grew fond for some of them more than real people that I know? And I am not referring to the potential Romantic companions. I am referring to the others that assume the role of grandmother, or brother in arms, or political leader, or hero. These characters are inspirational because they are as real as they get. Why is that you ask? Because each one has his own personality, his own expression, his own voice, his own fashion statement, his philosophy, his own goals. And many of these are conflicting, so it is to the player to balance things up.

The plot is so great because it is supported by great writers, dialogues and well directed cut scenes. There is a continuous feeling that the mature content is not branded as such for the blood and gore. The game always give hints that it wants to catch the hearts of teenagers as well as young adults. I really do not know if a child under 12 (according to the company the game in inappropriate for such ages) can fully grasp the depth of the scenario and the characters.

Yes, the plot is inspired by lords of the rings in many ways. What is really brilliant however, is that while at first the plot seems to be just a battle between good (Humans and allies) and evil (Darkspawn), they are continuously hints in the game, that the story may not be so. I won't comment more on that, because I do not want to spoil it for the few that haven't ended the game yet.

What really however is the finishing touch for the game,is the fact that Bioware outdid herself this time. They created a game engine from scratch, and they moved out from the D&D rules completely. This is a good thing because many of the D&D Rules would not go well in the Ferelden world and many of the Ferelden feets would not go well with D&D.

The most important thing however is that the game is HUGE, and when you end it, you will want to play again. And when you end it again, you will want to play one more time, just to make sure, you haven't missed anything, or to see how different the result would have been if you made things in a different way.

Thank you Bioware for creating the best game that I ever played and for telling one of the greatest stories that I ever heard, and for bringing to life some of the most interesting characters that I have met in my life. Thank you.
