Amazing game, don't get why people loved storyline tho

Okay first off I wana underline that the gameplay is one of the best..no no....the best i've seen in an rpg. It's really effective and easy, and gives an appropriate depth to the battle system. The best thing bout this game is the battle system it's really smooth and switching between characters has never been easier and more comfortable.
graphics are good considering and rpg and the parts that are between town travels are skipped and replaced by monster occurrences scene instead of long wondering hours not knowing where to go next.
The characters are all likable ( aside from umm..i even forgot his name coz i never used him...the macho guy thing lol) i let this one off my team after 5 minutes of recruiting him. Even though some characters hated me I think it gave a sense of reality where ur companions don't always agree with u and feel like they are traveling with u just coz they want to save the kingdom but dislike u at the same time.
What i don't get though is how people LOVED the storyline. I mean i'm not gona spoil the story here but I think a 3 years old could've written the scenario..not that it's bad! it's not! i just think that it's nto revolutionary it's the typical dwarfs, elves, humans , dragons.... story one would predict.
Overall this game was a really really pleasant adventure and I would advise any rpg lover to get it.
