What was BioWare thinking? SPOILERS
To be honest, I don't understand why BioWare would spend the time to publish this DLC. It makes absolutely no sense. After DAO, DAO-Awakening, I don't pretend to comprehend what this DLC hopes to achieve. It is incomprehensible although it cost me five bucks to confirm that.
Story:
You play a darkspawn general during the fall of Denerim . Having played through DAO three times, I was interested in just how this would play out – since thanks to my character, Denerim didn't fall. Here is the catch: Your previous character doesn't make the show and as a result, the NPC friends you made in your past life all die at your hand. Sweet!?
Game Play:
You spawn as a darkspawn general blade-swinger. As you progress you gain abilities predetermined for your class. There is no leveling to speak of and you have no control over your skills. Battles are boring as very few of your enthralled darkspawn group have an ability to do much of anything other than what they did when you were fighting them in your previous incarnation as the hero of Ferelden. Although you can heal, you must rely on health potion drops as you can't craft. Although you can enthrall a darkspawn caster and it can craft enough health potions to make battle a bit more manageable although few of the other "classes" can actually use them. As you kill off your old NPC pals, you receive codexes on them. Whoopee.
Graphics:
What you would expect in a DAO DLC. A little glitchy – as the game crashed twice in the hour it took to play through. If you are expecting any new terrain you'll be disappointed. It's Denerim and you've seen it before.
Conclusion:
I don't get it. I would've liked to have spent five bucks or even 20 bucks on something that continued the original story or the Awakening spin-off a bit farther. DAO Darkspawn Chronicles was a waste of my time, and of BioWare's. It's just stupid.
