DBZ games have been all over the grid when it comes to terms of success and failure. And differant people like some of the games differantly for well...differant reasons. Personally I found this game to be a great play. I had a craving for DBZ action, but as the last game I played was Budokai 2 on the PS2, I wanted to up my gameplay experiance. After reading several scathing reviews on the newest game in the franchise (Ultimate Tenkaichi), I decided to go with its earlier and much cheaper counterpart. I was not disapointed. While some of the combos/moves do seem repetitive, you get over it fast. The game is all about the ultimate moves/special moves, and those are pure fan service. There are 90 characters in this game from the complete series, which includes movie tie-ins, and yes, even those no-named goons in said movies which were owned by your favorite Z warriors. I enjoy the character custimization and how it ties into single player, and also found that getting all 7 dragonballs and calling forth Shenron to unlock super secret stuff is easier in this game (thankfully). If you want a Z fix, but don't want to gamble on the game, this is a good buy. Any sort of combat mode we've already experianced can be accomplished here, including pinballing opponents through the sky, massive quick fist battles, Ki energy duels, teleporting air duels and long range kamehameha obliterations. I got mine for just over 20 dollars, and it was a great buy. Now my Z cravings have a new outlet, and I can rest easier. Oh, and as an added bonus, the game comes with a movie "Plan to eradicate the Super Saiyans." I was surprised as a Z fan to watch this movie and realize I had never before heard of it. But it was great fun, and yes even the villian in that movie is playable in the game! Power up!
