The most intense DBZ I have ever played.

User Rating: 9 | Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 PS2
As a DBZ fan, I looked forward to this game. I originally wanted the Wii version but however... I didn't buy this game (and yet I still haven't). I was just too interested in other games. However, that doesn't mean I have not played the game. Well, I went to my god-brothers/great cousin's house in Ohio back on July 4th for Independence Day and stayed there for quite some time. So they had the game and I played it non-stop! I made so much progress on it (I had to do all the work. Boy do they suck lol j/k j/k) Concept: Just another DBZ game where you do the same DB,Z, and GT stories but with new ones that did not appear in the previous installments! You just smash enemies to a building and destroy things. Sweet Presentation: Hmmmm... showing us a sweet intro and with options that work fine. Graphics: Major improvement from the first. Nice and smoother character models and great visuals!! The special effects are nice. The textures are pretty sweet if you ask me. 9/10.

Gameplay: More explosive than ever!!! Why? Because DUDE it feels as if you're the anime itself (I doubt as much as the Wii version which I have yet to play). Anyway, let's get down to main thing here! The Gameplay Modes were Dragon Adventure, Ultimate Battle, Ultimate Training, and dueling. Dragon Adventure is when you relive many of the Dragon Ball Adventures and beat up some baddies. In this mode, you can unlock all sorts of things: Attacks, Characters, and Z-Item Potaras. Additionally, there are RPG elements. You can level up your character with Evolution Z. Evolution Z is when you can make your Attack power, Special Attack, and many more get stronger. You roam the skies of the Dragon World and navigate where you want to go which reminds of DBZ: Budokai 3. In certain areas, you talk to characters who ask you for help and completing these mission make you unlock new skills. They were pretty fun to do. Ultimate Battle is when you do 99 battles to see if you are the best. Training is when you learn how to play the game or practice beating up opponents. Dueling is the best! It is great to play with friends, rivals, and family. It has Tag-Team, Free Battle (where you get more than 2 partners. I think up to 5 or 6. Don't really rememer), One on One, and many more. It was a blast to play! The controls are great once you get the hang of it. Square is to do Melee Attacks, X is to dash (You can also grabble when doing X>Forward), Circle: Block, and Triangle is to fire ki blasts (chargable too). Not only this but you can do violent and awesome combinations. For an example, you can attack an enemy with powerful melee attacks, send them to the air, teleport to go right in front of them to send them higher, and you can telport again and again to attack your opponent until he/she (opponent) is smashed to the ground. Another cool combinations would be the Maximum Powered-Dragon Dashes where you dash at a enemy at high speeds (aura bursting from you) and when you lay the "Big hit", you can start whooping the enemy and the camera starts changing angle to angle making it extremely cool. It feel as if you're watching the show. As you keep hitting, you get to do some big attack where the camera goes completely to you and pauses until you finally hit the attack. Very stylish and cool. Also, they brought back to Teleportation feature (unlike in the first, it isn't only for dodging) which last appeared in DBZ: Budokai 3 (I think). You send an opponent far with a fully charged attack and pressing the Triangle button will make you teleport to them and inflict another hit. However, unlike in Budokai 3, you can't do it rapid fire. It would be nice you could. I also wish the melee attacks weren't done so lightly. It was in the first and it appears in the 2nd. I mean, I wish the attacks could be harder like in the original Budokai Series (this isn't a Budokai game. In Japan, it is part of the "SPARKING!" series. This one is called: "SPARKING!Neo"). Like in Shin Budokai, if you just keep pressing Square, the final attack would send the opponent away. But that is just mean. Anyway, I also like that you can charge up ki attacks. I've always wanted to do that. But when you charge it up fully, the Energy blast instantly fires. I wish you could hold as long as you wanted to (like in the Anime/Manga) and trick your opponents when they dash at you so you could blast them. But that's just me again. Sound: The voice acting can get a little cheesy at times but the music is great. There are these retro style music and they sound nice, making me feel comfortable when battling opponents. Nice music. Reply Value: I do not own the game but the reply value can get really good. But when I get it (hopefully I'll get it) it might get boring like the first. Still, for now it is GREAT!! Overall: In conclusion, Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2 is a great installment in Dragon Ball universe and will not fail to disappoint fans. I can't wait for Part 3!
