You know the story about a little boy named Goku and his journey, Goku is now growned up and have his own family and married with the girl named Chi-chi, she is a daughter of the gaind who know Goku's grand father named Gohan. They are married after the final of the 3rd world tournament (I think) with Chi-chi after winning the world championship tournament and beating Chi-chi. Then on Dragonball Z has he a boy named Gohan with Goku visit the house of master Roshi and there was Bulma with Krillin either. Then came there the evil brother of Goku named Raditz and he tells that Goku a saiyan and his name is Kakarot. Goku refuse that and he say I'm Goku and I'm from earth. Then after refuse of Goku, then he kidnapping Goku's son named Gohan. Piccolo arrived and will help Goku to rescue Gohan. Then after beating Raditz and saving Gohan. Piccolo is training Gohan.
The battles are great to do, but there is not so much about it. You can find on the battle where you fight against you opponents on the stages, there is some Dragonballs are hiding. You can battle against the opponents and if you blow the mountains, plains and other stuffs on the battle field then you have a chance for the Dragonball with some (from 1 to 7) stars. If you collect them all then you can summon the Dragon named Purunga (the dragon of namek) and Shenron (the dragon of earth) so there is much to do on the battles. The attacks, you can make combos with ultimate or super blast finishing. You have there challenge either on the challenge mode. There you can test your might and power... Battle your opponents, follow the trailer and battle the survivor mode. You can also make a free battle at the battle mode with your friends or CPU. You can chose five character at once.
If you chose Goku and Vegeta (with unlocking fusion of Gogeta, Gogeta super saiyan 4 and Vegeto) you can fuse them on the battle.
Graphics, the graphics are great and perfect to show your characters. You can see the battle field, attacks, combo, blasts and characters are drawed and made them great on the game. Move and show the battle field is great to see it. Character and field design is perfect, but if you play the game on the wide screen that decreases the quality of the graphics and that's not good. Man why is that so if I may ask to you all the Dragonball Z developers * sadly watch* answer me please.
Sound and voice acting from the actors and music makers worked perfectly on that, they worked perfectly on the voice act and sound then on the graphics. I like the voice act on Japanese is great and I listened the voice act on English and that sucks, because if Goku get hit, the he say aww with that stupid voice, discusting voice is that, but on the japanese is perfect so I play in the japanese voice act. That's nice to hear. Music is perfect and there I have no complaints about it.
Conclusion: this game is great to play and if you like the Dragonball Z games and fighting games, then is this game perfect for you, take Dragonball Z budokai tenkaichi 2 too for some extra function on this game. Because you can fuse that game with this game, so if you need strongest Goku from "Dragonball Z budokai tenkaichi 2", that's possible to do become you can transport Goku from "DRagonball Z budokai tenaichi 2" to this game named Dragonball Z budokai tenkaichi 3"
